Press Release Body = Investing in property could well be an exciting prospect for many landlords - well, the thought of the profits to be made certainly will be.
However, a growing number of homeowners are adding an extra touch of spice to the process and possibly gleaning a few extra pounds by picking up a property at auction, according to one expert.
David Sandeman, the managing director of Essential Information Group, claims that there has been a \"terrific\" upsurge in the number of people purchasing in this manner. And although 50 per cent of these are to large-scale investors and developers, the remaining half are snapped up by ordinary buyers or people looking to make a bit of cash by renting it out, says Mr Sandeman.
\"The internet\'s made it very easy for people to get information as to what\'s coming up at auction ... auctioneers are very much more friendly now towards individuals,\" he states.
So, what are the advantages of this method, as opposed to the traditional scouring of streets and estate agents to find the perfect buy-to-let opportunity? Well, Mr Sandeman believes that speed is a factor, with both seller and buyer benefiting from this factor. Additionally, he notes that when buying at auction the dreaded gazump is a thing of the past, while prices can often be cheaper than those available through estate agents.
Additionally, it seems that buy-to-let property investors wishing to purchase a \'fixer-upper\' and do a little work before letting could also be in luck.
\"Generally properties at auction are unmodernised and could benefit from some work, whereas generally properties sold via estate agents are modernised,\" adds Mr Sandeman.
